Gellért Banai is a junior researcher at the Centre for Next Technological Futures, Mathias Corvinus Collegium, Budapest. He earned his BSc degree in Applied Economics from Corvinus University of Budapest and is currently pursuing an MSc in Social Data Science.
His research focuses on demographic trends in Central and Eastern Europe, with particular attention to the impact of governmental support mechanisms on fertility rates. Using Bayesian Structural Equation Modelling (BSEM), he investigates how direct financial incentives (such as family allowances and maternity grants) and indirect forms of support (including public services like childcare and public goods like infrastructure and safety) influence fertility across different political and economic contexts.
He has been conducting research in this field for over a year and has authored two working papers on the topic. He has presented his findings at several academic forums, including GLOBAFA and the National Conference of Scientific Students’ Associations (OTDK).
